Active Shooters – Who are they? How do you recognize one?
Are you prepared to respond to an active shooter situation on your campus, at your business or as a front-line private or public officer?
What are you looking for? Should you wait for back-up? Do you need SWAT?
This active shooter course is a multi-tiered training covering the recognition of potential armed threats as well as the response and assessment during a live incident.
The course overview prepares both the armed and unarmed officer to respond, evacuate and confront in progress shooters as well as communicate accurate information and data to responding law enforcement.
Topics Covered Include:
- Preparing for the attack
- Assessing the immediate threat
- Communications
- Evacuations and sheltering in place
- Knowing the lay of the land
- Run hide fight
This basic course will prepare students employed in the private security, public safety or as a sworn law enforcement officer to better understand what leads up to an actual active shooter incident and how workplace violence is often entwined in these incidents.
The course also covers the mindset of both the attacker and the front-line officer or the general public who may come face to face with a live shooting event.
