Career Diploma
The Probation Officer investigates and analyzes cases, writes reports and makes recommendations to the courts, enforces orders of the courts, and supervises probationers (both adult and juvenile) who are under the jurisdiction of the courts and/or county probation departments.
Probation Officers are required to complete the Probation Officer Core courses as conditions of their employment.

Typical Tasks
Specific tasks typically required of a probation or parole agent includes monitoring clients, follow-up interviews and investigations, enforcement of rules of release, monitoring electronic GPS bracelets, skip-tracing and preparing documents including affidavits and warrant applications as well as arresting and returning offenders to custody.
Potential Positions
Probation and parole officers are employed by both private and public agencies who oversee convicted men and women who have been released from correctional facilities on probation or parole.
Employment Outlook
With the current overcrowding of correctional facilities and the move to incarcerate only violent or repeat offenders, the field of probation and parole will continue to expand especially in the area of privatization.
Within one year after graduation, the estimated employment rate for this program is 90%.
The typical graduate starting wage is $35,000 with a wage potential of $70,000.
