Cargo theft in America is a $15 to $30 billion-dollar problem. The FBI reports that less than twenty percent of stolen goods are ever recovered.
In recent years, thefts of complete shipments of high value cargo has continued to rise.

Cargo theft has been around for centuries. You probably know the history of train and stagecoach robberies of the old west.

Robbers of old also attacked merchants on trading roads and pirates seized ships at sea for their bounty.

Today, hijackers take tractor trailer loads of merchandise worth millions of dollars, seize ships on the high-seas and in ports and have been known to be ruthless.

The course provides the student to an in-depth overview and hands-on experience of the growing national and international crime known as cargo theft.

Students will be able to apply their knowledge from this course directly to a current investigator position or use it to obtain a position in this unique investigative field.
