This advanced-level course prepares the student for a career as a corrections officer by providing insight into the corrections environment, safety and security hazards, use of force protocols, and custodial duties.
Additional modules cover criminal and civil laws, ethics, criminal mindsets, prisoner transports, civil unrest, use of force, prisoner control tactics, de-escalation, report writing, and other topics.
This program will prepare the officer to work in a local city or county correctional facilities, regional jails, or private detention centers.
It further prepares contract security personnel who have been contracted by a correctional facility to have advanced knowledge of the operations of various facilities, safety and security protocols, officer awareness, and the legal and ethical standards and obligations.
