Duties of both contract and proprietary security officers now include protection of people, property and data, protection of staff, investigation of minor and serious offenses, responding to medical and situational emergencies, confronting and apprehension of offenders as well as providing basic security functions such as access control and other physical security duties.

Providing security services for nightclubs, men’s clubs, bars and venues that serve alcohol has changed over the past twenty years. As the security officer duties and responsibilities have increased in these establishments, so has the dangers to those providing the services.
